• Connect hard drive to another computer, copy over the “Documents and Settings” folder, sometimes only the user folder(s)
• Format hard drive
• Reinstall Windows
• Setup accounts that previously existed
• Put data back on the computer
• Return computer

This is all well and good, if you know where the installation disks for each and every piece of software you had on the computer prior to it being “fixed” and don’t mind spending a few hours reinstalling them.
